Research

Dr. Levitas
Research has shown doubled conception rates for IVF when combined with hypnosis, alleviating the disappointments and possible stress that may come from repeated cycles: in a study of 195 patients undergoing IVF, 28% achieved clinical pregnancy with hypnosis at the time of embryo transfer, compared to only 14% without.

Dr. Thiering
Two studies led by Dr. P. Thiering, in 1993 and 2001, explored the effects of anxiety and depression on conception, and the results seem to indicate that the process of conception can indeed be influenced by the mind. His 1993 study showed doubled success rates in successive IVF cycles when the first IVF cycle has failed and when resulting secondary depression symptoms were treated before starting subsequent cycles. In 1999, a similar study confirmed the findings that women with depression symptoms resulting from a failed first IVF attempt showed a 60% viable pregnancy rate within six months when these depression symptoms were treated. The women whose symptoms were left untreated before a second attempt showed a pregnancy rate of only 24%.

Dr. Peterson
Dr. Gayle Peterson has developed a technique called Body-Centered Hypnosis. Dr. Peterson has found that high anxiety states in the mother must be reduced in order to normalize pregnancy and birth.

She cites several research studies that suggest a positive link between fertility and treatments based on hypnosis. She is a pioneer in the field of mind/body states and their effects on fertility, pregnancy and birthing.

Dr. Domar
Dr. Alice Domar has been published and quoted in several journals, such as Fertility & Sterility (1990 and 2000) and Journal of the American Medical Women's Association (1999).

Recent studies published in these journals, indicate that “infertile” women utilising hypnosis techniques have a 42-55% conception rate as compared to 20% with IVF alone.

She emphasizes "mind/body" techniques that include self-hypnotic suggestions to reduce stresses that interfere with conception and healthy pregnancy. Domar is the author of Conquering Infertility, and other books on the topic.

Dr. Rossi
Dr. Ernest L. Rossi specializes in psychobiology, or the relationship between the mind and physical body states.

He has done extensive research which suggest that human genes must be in a state of physical readiness for conception to take place, and that hypnotic-type suggestions can activate specific genes, including the IL-1, c-fos, and the CYP17 in a specific order.
